The current minimum pay for an actor on Broadway is $1,422 per week--but that would be for somebody who's just an average performer, in a non-starring or non-supporting role. Above that, everything is negotiable depending on your experience, name recognition, etc., so it's really impossible to determine what the "typical" Broadway actor makes (simply because there's no "typical"...) Don't forget that since everybody wants to be in a Broadway show, but only a few can, there's no incentive for producers to pay more than minimum if they can get away with it. (But on top of the wage, actors also get paid health insurance and a contribution to their retirement fund, so the real pay is probably closer to $1,700-1,800 a week before taxes.) Stars and people with some recognition are, of course, different--but as I say, it's almost impossible to determine an average. Anyway, even at the top end, Broadway salaries don't begin to approach movies. A recent example: Julia Roberts made $35,000 a week doing "Three Days of Rain". Nice salary compared with $1,422--but she makes 20 MILLION dollars for a movie...
